I am a Gainesville attorney with offices located at 418 Candler Street.  I have been serving Georgia for more than 40 years.  My areas of practice include general law practice, accidents and job injuries, workers compensation, personal injury litigation, and Social Security disability.  I have a special interest in accidents involving traumatic brain injuries and am a member of the Brain Injury Association of Georgia.  To help me resolve legal issues out of court, I am a Certified Civil Mediator for alternative dispute resolution.

I graduated from the University of Georgia (UGA) in 1969 with honors in English and received my Juris Doctorate degree in law from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1972.  During my education, I was a member of the Honors Program, the Dean's List, Phi Delta Phi, Blue Key, Omicron Delta Kappa, and Sigma Pi social fraternity.  I also lettered as a diver on the UGA varsity swimming team.

I was admitted to the practice of law in 1972, and admitted to all state and federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court.

I am a member of the Gainesville-Northeastern Bar Association (secretary and treasurer from 1974–1976 and president from 1984–1985), State Bar of Georgia, Georgia Trial Lawyers Association (past area vice president), and American Trial Lawyers Association.

I served as president of the Gainesville Ballet Board of Directors, and was a member and past secretary of the Gainesville Rotary Club.  I was past president of the local chapter of the University of Georgia Alumni Club, past director of the Gainesville Jaycees, past division chairman for the Hall County Community Chest and United Way, and past vice president of the University of Georgia Young Alumni Council.  I served as hospice attorney for Hospice – Hand in Hand for Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

I served as an adjunct professor of law and the volunteer director of the Legal Assistant Program at Gainesville College, and have also written and lectured on law-related topics such as traumatic brain injuries.

I am a frequent contributor to The Times newspaper on law-related topics including "Many Motorists Have Inadequate Car Insurance Coverage," "Mediation Can Save Money," "Don't Opt for Lowest Liability Coverage," the State Bar of Georgia Workers' Compensation Law Section newsletter on "Settling the Catastrophic Workers' Compensation Claim—Medicare and Set-Aside Trust" and other law-related publications.

I have a particular interest and expertise in subrogation and reimbursement issues of health insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, hospital liens, and the preservation of settlements and verdicts in accident litigation.

I live with my wife Mary and our three children in Gainesville, and we are members of the First United Methodist Church of Gainesville.
